Our Story becomes a book!

Since we haven't been able to go out to visit schools or nursing homes (or anywhere), the focus has been on finishing up a project I started a while ago.  The first of hopefully many books documenting the first few years of our program! PEAK K9s for Kids: Our Story.  We are so excited to be able to share this with you.  You can purchase your own copy through Amazon.

Summer Enrichment Camp 2019

The PEAK Dogs continued their busy summer by helping me teach a summer camp for local middle school-aged kids.  The camp was called "The Dog Training Days of Summer".

We learned about:

  • dog body language⁰
  • how dogs learn
  • clicker training techniques
  • all about dog breeds
  • how to make a paracord leash
  • different tricks and dog sports dogs can do
We even had a visit from Dr. June, a (vet friend of mine), the SPCA, and the Harrisonburg K9 unit.

We ended the week with the parents coming in to see their kids perform tricks with Vixen and Rebel.  It was a lot of fun and I hope to do it again next year.

Boundless Junior Agility Camp Summer - 2019

This was the second year that Vixen and I went up to PA to participate in the Boundless Junior Agility Camp. Vixen was once again a LAP dog "Lend a Paw", meaning that she was paired with a junior handler whose dog wasn't ready to be part of the camp or at least full time.  This year, she had the same junior as she had last year, with the benefit of being able to take some of the reps off, since her junior was able to bring her own dog this year and she would usually run her about 1/3 of the time, then ran Vixen the rest of the time.

Vixen loves working with juniors in agility and this camp is a blast.  We also brought Rebel along to get some experience at camp, the hotel, and lots of kisses!
