Cheetah 9-3-03 - 11-3-16

I know I should have written about this before in this blog.  I did announce it in on our Facebook Page earlier...I just am having a hard time knowing what to say.  It is with great sadness that I share with you that we lost my best friend and senior PEAK dog, Cheetah.  She was diagnosed with lymphoma in May and we started her on chemo soon after.  She was doing well and feeling great and was still making kids smile and even continued to compete in agility until the beginning of  Oct, when we had her retirement party.  she had been in remission until right before then and we were having a hard time getting things back were we wanted them.  She even went swimming  on Sat and had a great time.  But I knew that would be her last time swimming...I had really hoped we could get through the holidays...but it wasn't to be.  On Wed, she had a nose bleed and we didn't know what it meant, only that it wasn't likely to be just a nosebleed.  So we took her to the emergency room.  Her platelets were really low ( as was all of her bloodwork) and there really didn't seemed to be anything we could do to help her get any better, so we had to let her go.  It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make and I know in my head it was the right one,  but in my heart it still feels like I wish there was something else to be done.  I could ramble on for ever about this ( and I have on my personal FB wall) but suffice it say that there is a huge hole in my heart still and our program will never be the same without her.  Vixen is doing all that she can to fill her big sister's BIG shoes ( in agility and in the program).  We will find our way through this period of loss and transition, but we will never be quite the same without her huge smile and larger than life personality.
